When people ask me what type of music I listen to I tell them ‘Story Songs’. I don’t have one genre I listen to but I do like plot a lot. So there are some of the songs that have made the biggest impression on me in my short life. These are some of my favorites though there are many more. You’ll find a lot of Vocaloid songs because there aren’t very many modern songs that don’t just repeat themselves a thousand times. So if you want some story inspiration or just want to find a new song, I bet there’s something on here for you! I’ve linked to them all so I hope you enjoy!
“Radio-Friendly Pop Song” is a really fun and catchy song that has a great theme. If you’re looking for LGBT songs and you haven’t found this one, you’ll love it.
“Duet with Myself” is a really personal, touching song by one of my favorite artists. The editing is great and it has a great moral.
“Witch” One of many Vocaloid songs on the list, this one is definitely worth the subtitles. If you can’t fully understand the translation check the comments or a dubbed video for the whole story.
“Partners in Crime” This was the first story song I ever found. I love it so much. You have to listen all the way to the end.
“Dream Eating Monochrome Baku” The personality portrayed by the singer makes this song one of my favorites from youth. The story itself has a good plot twist and is easy to follow.
“Ghost” This music video crafts a perfect story around a great song. Not to mention it plays off my favorite TV show as a kid.
“A Tale of Six Trillion Years and a Night” This has definitely inspired a character of two. The song is very catchy and really gets my imagination going.
“Thank you” If you’re looking for something more normal, try this one on for size. Make sure to watch the music video of full effect.
“The Riddle Solver who Couldn’t Solve Riddles.” Great plot twist in this one. Very dark and interesting.
“Super Hero” The last of the Vocaloid songs I swear. This one really shows a great character arc.
